OTPP 753 - MTNS & GMI Virtual Lab

Description
This virtual lab portion of the Online TPS program is a video-instructed clinical application class of pain science. Prior to the self-directed lab course, participants complete a 9-week online didactic study of three separate pain science classes: Therapeutic Neuroscience Education, Manual Therapy of the Nervous System and Graded Motor Imagery. Each of these modules contains a combination of instructional videos, handouts, required article readings, group discussions and quizzes, deeming participants ready for the virtual lab. In part one of the lab, participants are instructed on and guided towards practicing safe and skillful handling of the nervous system focusing on neurodynamics. In part 2 of the course, participants review and observe the clinical application of pain neuroscience education via video and a case study. In part 3, we will cover tests and treatments focus on graded motor imagery as a means to test and treat a hypersensitive nervous system. The virtual lab features extensive sessions with 121 test and treatment video demonstrations allowing enhanced learning. In addition to the video demonstrations, participants will have the opportunity to practice skills and receive feedback from the comfort of their home or office though video technology. Finally, learners and faculty will engage in weekly evening synchronous sessions for an opportunity to ask questions and discuss integration strategies. Upon completion of this course a successful learner, will be able to demonstrate the skills necessary to physically test the nervous system for pathological changes and implement the best course of action using neurodynamic, PNE and Graded Motor Imagery treatment principles.
