OTPP 754 - Special Topics

Description
This course addresses key challenges in rehabilitation, focusing on pain management, the integration of pain neuroscience education (PNE) with physical treatments, and strategies to prevent burnout. Well explore the myth that aging causes pain, highlighting how fear-avoidance and pain catastrophizing limit movement in older adults, and demonstrate how PNE can help shift pain beliefs to improve function. The course will also examine how PNE and manual therapies (e.g., mobilization, dry needling, exercise) can coexist to enhance outcomes by remapping brain functions and reducing sensitization. Finally, well discuss burnout, its impact on clinicians and patient care, and provide evidence-based strategies for preventing and treating burnout, both organizationally and personally. This session is essential for clinicians looking to improve patient outcomes, manage pain, and protect their well-being.
