OCTH 0641 - Population, Occupation, and Lifestyle Health with Lab Description This course provides students the opportunity to actively investigate different health-related challenges that impact occupational engagement in a variety of populations across the globe, while subsequently conceptualizing how these needs can be theoretically and clinically addressed from an occupational therapy (OT) perspective. Health promotion and prevention practices will be explored, as well as social determinants of health, health literacy, and the impact of legislative systems on population health at large. This course follows the pedagogical philosophy of this program by utilizing a blend of different online active-learning techniques while continuing to provide opportunities to “learn by doing”. Experiences within this course contribute to the creation of future leaders of practice, as course content directly aligns with the values of the OT profession, promoting health through occupation for individuals, groups, communities, and populations at large.
