OTAZ 605 - Wellness & Health Promotion Description This course is an introduction to health, wellness, and disability prevention models. Students will get an overview of occupational therapy practice in wellness, promotion, and prevention programs for a variety of settings and considering integrative health options for individuals, groups, and communities. The course focuses on occupational therapy’s role in developing theory-driven and evidence-informed health promotion programs. Students learn theoretical perspectives and intervention models guiding health promotion for clients and groups, with and without disabilities. Students examine teaching strategies for learners across the lifespan with a range of health literacy needs to effectively communicate health and wellness initiatives.
