OTAZ 616 - Program Development in Healthcare & Academics Description This course examines best occupational therapy practices and evidence related to teaching methods and learning theories in clinical, community, and academic settings. Students gain an understanding of the occupational therapist’s role in program development, identifying theoretical frameworks for community-based practice, and developing program outcomes. The course covers a wide range of teaching methodologies and learning styles across diverse practice settings, focusing on consumer needs, contexts, roles, task demands, and resources. Students apply knowledge from prior courses to develop education for various healthcare and academic stakeholders, including clinical and community-based in-services and classroom instruction. Course objectives and learning activities emphasize professional reasoning, evidence-based practice, integrative healthcare, and professionalism and leadership-four of the six pillars threaded through the OTD program’s curriculum design.
