DWHL 750 - Introduction to Capstone

Description
This foundational course introduces students to the Capstone Project process, expectations, and milestones within the Doctor of Whole Health Leadership Program. Students explore the principles of Whole Health, scholarly inquiry, and leadership as they relate to the development of a capstone project. The course focuses on identifying a relevant healthcare, community health, policy or other opportunity to catalyze change through Whole Health. Emphasis is placed on cultivating critical thinking, information literacy, ethical reasoning, and the development of an initial idea for scholarly project.  Students begin to explore relevant literature, evaluate various types of capstone project designs (e.g., clinical, basic science, translational research, case study, meta-analysis, educational or advocacy-based projects), and reflect on how their personal and professional interests align with Whole Health leadership. The course concludes with a preliminary concept proposal and identification of potential mentors.
