The Ayurveda Medicine Department offers courses for non-degree- or certificate-seeking students interested in Ayurvedic Medicine. For students holding an Ayurvedic Health Counselor/ Wellness Educator and/ or Ayurvedic Practitioner certificate, some courses may be eligible for Continuing Education Unit (CEU) credits, if the courses have been approved by the National Ayurvedic Medical Association (NAMA) for CEUs. In addition, some of these courses may carry academic credit. Further, some of these courses may be transferrable into academic programs offered by the Ayurveda Medicine Department, though some may have additional requirements to facilitate transfer. These courses are typically offered online or on ground and may include both synchronous and asynchronous instruction. Students will receive a certificate of completion for each completed course.
The Clinical Internship courses are on-ground courses, and will require in-person attendance. On-ground courses are held in California. See Clinical Experiences in the University Catalog. See State Authorization information in the University Catalog.
The Clinical Internship for Ayurvedic Practitioners is a 2-credit/60-clock hour clinical experience course. The course is offered on-ground and in-person at the University Health Center, where students attend clinic sessions in a standard semester schedule.
The Clinical Internship for Ayurvedic Practitioners course is designed for students to further develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviors necessary for professional practice. Clinical students participate in patient care and engage in other educational experiences under the supervision of Ayurvedic clinical faculty. Students earn credit by completing 60 clinic hours. Students complete the required clinic hours at the University Health Center, the University’s on-campus clinic. Students will receive a certificate of completion.
Students interested in this course must provide proof that they have successfully completed an Ayurvedic Practitioner program from a school recognized/accredited by the Ayurvedic Accreditation Commission. Students must provide a current and valid tuberculosis clearance and a lab participation agreement.
Prerequisites: Completed Ayurvedic Practitioner Program from a school recognized/accredited by the Ayurvedic Accreditation Commission.
Schedule: Total 60 hrs, 4 hrs/week for 15 weeks
Fee: SCU graduates - $500, Practitioners from other colleges - $800
