Interprofessional Education (IPE) courses at SCU provide students with structured opportunities to learn about, from, and with peers from two or more health professions. These courses strengthen collaboration skills essential to improving health outcomes and align with the university’s mission to solidify our position as an industry leader in integrative, whole-person healthcare education.
IPE courses are designed to develop core competencies in teamwork, communication, roles and responsibilities, and ethics, following the Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC) guidelines.
Learning experiences may include:
- Didactic instruction on interprofessional collaboration
- Simulation and case-based activities that reflect real-world healthcare practice
- Clinical and community-based experiences where teamwork across professions is vital
Through IPE, students are prepared to work effectively in collaborative, team-based environments, supporting whole-person, integrative approaches to health and advancing patient and population outcomes.
Students are enrolled into these courses as a part of their professional degree programs.Learning Outcomes in the Interprofessional Education are assessed at the course level. Graduate programs evaluate Interprofessional Education outcomes at the program level.
