OCTH 0611 - Professional Skills I with Lab Description This course provides foundational knowledge of the domain and process of occupational therapy, including the historical, philosophical and theoretical underpinnings of the profession. Students are prepared for clinical skills which assure safety of the self and client. Students learn to analyze occupations and activities for use throughout the intervention process. Students will begin to develop their critical thinking skills necessary for evidence-based and occupation-centered care. Throughout the course students will be exposed to concepts related to lifestyle health and the connection between occupational engagement and well-being as well as occupational-justice as it relates to contextual influences on the ability of persons, groups and communities to engage in meaningful and life-fulfilling occupations.
