PAPH 409 - Public Health This course examines population-based integrative approaches to improve the health of the public. There will be a focus on major current public health issues and the prevention of significant causes of mortality and morbidity including strategies that can be used to promote health and prevent disease. Students in this course will learn about what public health is, how it works, and who is involved including the combined effort of various health care workers and public and private entities. Students will also be learning the methods used to determine the health care needs of a community and how these can be addressed from a community health improvement perspective from assessment to community engagement to finding and implementing evidence-based public health interventions.
