BSHS 300 - Introduction to the Human Genome This course will introduce students to the essential fundamental concepts in human genetics and genomics. Starting with the historical context of Mendelian genetics, the course covers an introduction to the human genome including essential terminology and the structure and function of the human genome. The course will examine normal and abnormal cell division with an emphasis on clinical outcomes. It will also cover the principles of common laboratory techniques used in studying the human genome and clinical diagnostics. The course will also examine emerging technologies such as gene editing and gene therapies.
